John Buffonge Scholarship Award
Every June the Montserrat Progressive Society of Boston, Inc. presents its John Buffonge Scholarship Award to 3 graduating high school students. The award is presented based on: academic proficiency, a letter of acceptance to a post-secondary institution, and an essay displaying the applicant’s goals, aspirations, community involvement and ways in which someone has influenced their life.
The process in which the awardees are chosen is by a thorough review of the application by the Montserrat Progressive Society of Boston, Scholarship Committee for completion and submission of all required documents.

Montserrat Progressive Society of Boston, Incorporated (MPSB) is pleased to offer a $500.00 scholarship to each of four college-bound high school students from the current graduating class, who are from the Greater Boston Area. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average and demonstrate commitment to community service.
To be considered, students must submit the following credentials:
- Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives
- An official high school transcript that includes current senior year grades
- A letter of acceptance to a post-secondary institution
- An essay stating students’ goals, aspirations, and ways in which someone has influenced his or her life. Essay must consist of no more than 500 words, typed, and double-spaced.
